How to schedule electric car charging according to your schedule

Scheduling a recharge involves coordinating when you can charge the car with when you need to use it. The most useful schedule depends on your routine, your electricity contract, and the capabilities of your vehicle and charger.

Start with your departure time

Note what time you usually plug in and what time you need to leave. Estimate how much energy you want to recover, rather than assuming you need to fill the battery in every session. For charging limits and battery care, follow your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.

Check your rate before choosing nighttime hours

Not all contracts have time slots, and not all nighttime hours cost less. Review the price per kWh, the time periods, and the current terms of your contract. If the price changes by the hour, a fixed schedule does not guarantee that you will always select the most economical ones.

The decision should also consider the rest of the household's consumption. Learn how to calculate the cost of a session with your own data.

Avoid conflicting schedules

The car and the charger can have independent schedules. If one allows charging in the early morning and the other only in the afternoon, the session might not start. Choose where you are going to manage the usual schedule and check the settings of the other device.

  1. Check the date, time, and days of the schedule.
  2. Check that the vehicle allows charging during that interval.
  3. Connect the car correctly and verify the status of the session.
  4. Observe a first scheduled charge before relying on it for a trip.

Screens and options may vary depending on the application version and the vehicle. Use the current manufacturer's instructions for specific steps.

Available power still matters

A very short interval may not be enough to recover the energy you need. The actual power is limited by the car, the installation, and the configuration. Do not change electrical protections or installation settings on your own: consult an authorized professional.

The Pulsar Max units offered at Charge Factory allow for programming and control via the Wallbox app. Dynamic power management and solar features require additional compatible accessories; setting a time does not add those features by itself.

Review your routine when your usage changes

A change in shift, rate, or mileage may require a different charging window. Keep a simple way to check if the car is charging and review the results of the first few sessions. Avoid claiming fixed savings without comparing actual consumption and prices.
